Classic ridge tour to the Vordere Brandjochspitze on solid rock, directly above the rooftops of Innsbruck. The tour offers breathtaking views over Innsbruck and the Inn Valley. Despite its proximity to the city, it provides an unforgettable alpine experience. Ideal as an introduction to alpine climbing or as a leisurely tour for advanced climbers.
The meeting point is at the Hungerburg parking lot. From there, we take the cable car up to Seegrube and approach the start of the south ridge via the Brandjochkreuz. Alternatively, you can reach the start by e-bike over the Höttinger Alm.
The climb itself mostly follows the ridge, featuring varied and exposed sections on rugged Karwendel rock. The highlight is the famous “Spreizschritt” - a "jump" over a gap. (UIAA grade III-). Perfectly secured by your mountain guide, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the rooftops of Innsbruck and the surrounding mountains.
The summit of the Vordere Brandjochspitze (2,559 m) rewards you with an unparalleled panorama – to the north, the wild Karwendel valleys; to the south, the city below. There’s no closer encounter between urban life and untouched nature!
The descent leads back to Seegrube via the Frau-Hitt saddle or alternatively to the Höttinger Alm.
