Innsbruck Via Ferrata – Looking down from the Nordkette onto Innsbruck

Description

A moderate via ferrata high above Innsbruck with spectacular views of the city and the snow-capped peaks of the main Alpine ridge. It features varied and spectacular sections, so it never gets boring but is never overwhelming either. In terms of scenery, the Innsbruck via ferrata offers a unique experience and is an absolute classic! Suitable even for less experienced climbers!
For those who haven't had enough at the Frau-Hitt Saddle and want to take it up a notch, there's the option to climb the iconic rock formation known as Frau Hitt. Here’s the link to the Frau Hitt legend.

The Climb

The meeting point is at 8:00 AM at the Hungerburgbahn parking lot. From there, we take the cable car up to the Hafelekar. The start of the Innsbruck via ferrata is located nearby. The ascent to Seegrubenspitze follows, with difficulty level C, providing an initial challenge. Next, we continue over the Seegrubenscharte to the eastern Kaminspitze (sections B/C). The subsequent ridge traverse offers spectacular passages, including a suspension bridge, before heading to Kemmacher — the highest peak of the Innsbruck via ferrata.
From there, we descend into the long saddle where we take an extended rest. From this point, it is also easy to descend and return to the Seegrube.
Here begins the second part with the eastern and western Sattelspitze, where difficulties up to grade C are required once again. From there, the route descends steeply down into the Frau-Hitt Saddle.
