Matterhorn Hörnli ridge

The Matterhorn – arguably the most famous mountain in the Western Alps. As a striking symbol of Switzerland and the iconic ‘Toblerone mountain’, it has always fascinated mountaineers from all over the world. For many, climbing it is a lifelong dream.

The ascent via the Hörnli ridge takes around four hours and leads over varied, mostly easily climbable rock formations. The sections are often made easier by fixed ropes, so the technical difficulties remain manageable. The crux awaits us above the Solvay Hut: the Moseley Plate. With professional belaying by the mountain guide, this section is also well within our capabilities. In the summit area, we finally enter high-alpine terrain with snow and ice – an impressive conclusion to this great tour.

Once at the summit, a special moment awaits us: the statue of Saint Bernard, patron saint of mountaineers, watches over everyone who has made it this far.
